Posi-Lock Vacuum Eliminator Kits

If you are currently have a Jeep YJ Wrangler or an XJ Cherokee with a Dana 30 Front Axle, you are probably already aware of the problems associated with the OE Vacuum actuators.   Posi-Lock has a solution to this problem.  The Posi-Lock Cable Kits eliminate the use of the vacuum actuator and replace it with a cable system that allows the operator of the vehicle to positively engage the disconnect axles from the cab.  These are complete kits that are easily installed and are available for several different disconnect axles besides the Dana 30.  The standard kit for the Jeep YJ Wrangler and XJ Cherokees is part number PSL900.  The PSL 920 Kit is available for these same vehicles when there is between 3″ to 6″ of lift installed.  The primary difference is that cable is slightly longer to compensate for the additional lift.

One thing to consider when installing one of thes kits is to purchase a new shift fork.  The part number for this option is PSL100.

Spartan Lockers

Spartan Lockers by USA Standard Gear are a mechanical locker that replaces the spider gears in an open carrier.  The unique pin and spring design make the installation of the unit very easy.  The couplers and drivers are made of 9310 steel for strength and performance and comes with a one year warranty.We installed two of these in my 1998 Jeep TJ Wrangler with a Dana 30 Front Axle and a Dana 35 Rear Axle.  The rear axle was a relatively easy install.  Start to finish took just under two hours.   Checkout this link to a video to see the complete installation.  Dana 35 Spartan Locker Installation

This particular vehicle had 3.07 gears with the small carrier.  We had to removed the carrier and take the ring gear off.  We then had to grind the inner edges of the carrier in order to get the Spartan Locker assembly to fit in place.  These units have performed exceptionally well for over a year without any problems.
